A skillfully posed portrait portrays the likeness of a person, but the unrehearsed portrait reveals a story.

Hi and welcome to my blog! Here is where I share about the wonderful people I get the opportunity to photograph. My name is Angelique and I’m a photographer based outside of  Denver, Colorado. I’m originally from Los Angeles and enjoy being able to visit throughout the year for sessions. I started black and white film photography in 2004, and made the digital move in 2007. My passion for photography comes from wanting to capture the beauty in simplicity and the realness of life. Life is full of unexpected smiles, uncontrollable laughter, hugs and kisses, and even frowns. Photos should be more than posed images; they should tell a story.

Thank you for stopping by. You can also follow me on Twitter and Facebook by using the links below.

Blog Transfer

If you’re a fan of my Facebook page, you already know I’ve transferred my website and blog over to a new hosting service. It looks like the blog transfer went smoothly, but I did notice today there are a few images missing. I will be fixing this soon.

I will leave you with one of my favorite areas to shoot. Union Station, Denver.

Pomeroy Family

A few more images from my session with the Pomeroy family. If you missed their sneak peek, you can view it here. Our session was at Metropolitan State College in Denver. I love this little area on the campus. It’s perfect for family sessions.

I love everything about this image. Ryan’s sweet facial expression, her cute feet turned in, happy and proud dad laughing at her silliness…..love it!

Ryan is such a trooper. She actually had a bit of a headache during her session. Despite her headache, she did great!

Such an awesome family!

Behan Family | New Bundle of Joy

Meet sweet baby Ayaka. A couple weeks ago I met with Cody and Hideko to take pictures of their new baby girl. They are such a wonderful family, and Ayaka is a little angel.

Ayaka has such beautiful big eyes, and amazing long eye lashes. I think she gets it from her beautiful momma.

We brought in the rest of the family. :)

Doesn’t she just melt your heart…..

Pomeroy Family | Sneak Peek

I’ve taken family pictures of the Pomeroy family the past three years, and as usual, it was a blast! They are also good friends of ours, which makes the session that much more enjoyable.

I absolutely adore their sweet daughter Ryan. She is a fun girl to be around, and has the BEST facial expressions! Can you see the sweet-sassy combination going on in that adorable face. Love it!

Such a beautiful family!

Ryan was having a great time wearing this petticoat tutu. She rocked it!

I have LOTS more pictures to sort through and share. I was having a hard time choosing which few to post for a sneak peek. More images posted here.

Amusement Park Session | Sneak Peek

Sunday I had a session with one of my favorite families. I’m amazed how much kids really do grow from year to year. Brooky, a.k.a. mom, had a great idea of having the session at Lakeside Amusement park at night. I’d never done a session at an amusement park, nor a session at night. I jumped at the idea. I will say, it was a little more challenging than I expected, but it was a lot of fun! They are a really cool family, and I always enjoy the time I spend with them during their sessions.

A few things that haven’t changed…..Madeline’s amazing blue eyes, and Jack’s facial expressions. His face says it all. He just barely missed the height requirement. He recovered quickly though.

I have A LOT of photos to sort through for this session! :)

The Bride and The Dude | Mr & Mrs Guild | Part 1

A week ago I had the honor and pleasure to photograph Nate and Rina’s wedding. I was trying to choose just a few favorites for a sneak peek, but choosing just a few was too hard. These are a few of my favorites of the bride and groom before the ceremony, during the ceremony, and the wonderful moment of the groom whisking away his new wife.

The location of Nate and Rina’s wedding was breathtaking. They got married at the Aspen Lodge in Estes Park. The ceremony took place outdoors in the mountains at the Aspen Meadow, which as the name suggests, is surrounded by aspen trees. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. Rain was in the forecast, but we only got a few sprinkles here and there.

The most beautiful part of the wedding was watching just how in love Nate and Rina are, and how much love that surrounded them. It was truly a celebration for them, their families, and friends. I love the photo when Nate is watching his bride walk down the aisle and his brother (the best man) is looking at him to see his expression. You can see the happiness he feels for his brother. Another favorite is Rina looking at her dad with such a big smile as he brings her down the aisle. I’m not sure if it’s because I got to know the couple a little bit before the wedding, but I found myself almost tearing up a number of times during the ceremony and during the reception. Of course I am a bit of a hopeless romantic.

They also had some fun attire details. Nate custom ordered Converse shoes for all his groomsman, ushers and even the fathers were styling custom converse. Truly fantastic! He also got a pair for his bride with her something blue. Speaking of the bride, stunning! Rina looked AMAZING and her dress was not only gorgeous, but a one of a kind made by Nate’s mom, Darlene. Darlene you should own your own wedding dress shop. The details of the dress were incredible. Wait till you see the back of the dress in the next post.

The groom literally swept the bride off her feet. Thank you Nate and Rina for choosing me to be your photographer for your big day. It was truly a beautiful day filled with love and a lot of fun.

Thank you Kristin for being my assistant for the day. You were awesome and such a great help!

Nate and Rina | Engagement Sneak Peek

I’m a little behind on my sneak peek for this session, but here’s a few of my favorites from the start of the session.

I had a lot of fun hanging out with Nate and Rina. They have the cutest story of how they met too. I’ll probably mess it up, but I’ll give it a go.

They met in Japan while Nate was stationed there. Nate had a bit of a crush on Rina, but missed his chance to a friend. Yes, someone else asked her out first. Nate and Rina remained friends, and he waited patiently (smart guy). Nate moved to the Los Angeles area but kept in touch with Rina. Rina and the boyfriend eventually broke up and she decided to move to Santa Monica to go to school. Nate made sure not to wait too long this time, and asked her to be his girlfriend her second day in the States. So cute. I’m such a sucker for love stories and I just can’t wait to capture their day. Only a month to go.
